Their staff of engineers, service technicians, and training professionals work hand-in-hand with their customers and local partners to provide personal training, start-up, and aftermarket support.

POSITION SUMMARY

Our client, a Global Manufacturer of Heavy Machinery, is seeking several talented Design Engineers for their Ohio facility. Qualified candidates will have a proven track record in manufacturing of custom process equipment.

Our client is an established Global Manufacturer of durable and cost–effective cleaning and excavating equipment. Their products are highly specialized and customized for specialty contractors, municipalities, and industrial markets. Their exciting growth and expansion has created the need for several new positions—including Multiple Qualified Mechanical Design Engineers! 

The Mechanical Design Engineer is an integral part of Our Client’s technical team supporting the sales and manufacturing process as well as driving product innovation across the Company’s many product lines and market segments.

The Engineers will be responsible for new equipment design, systems integration, documentation, and manufacturing support. They will also be members of various process improvement and innovation project teams and will assist in developing and establishing various processes and procedures with the objective being to continually improve quality, throughput, and profitability.

FROM THE HIRING MANAGER

He is looking for someone with some or all of the following:

  1. Solid Modeling experience, preferably in CREO

  2. Design of hydraulic systems

  3. Design of mechanical assemblies

  4. Fabricated steel products

  5. Sizing of mechanical and hydraulic components

  6. ASME pressure vessel experience

  7. ProE or SolidWorks or Inventor or UG if you Do Not Have Creo Experience

FROM THE VP OF ENGINEERING

Successful candidates would not only design product but also support the shop floor as the products are built. The role will also include supporting products in the field as issues arise.  This will require developing knowledge not only of our products but how they are used as well.  Finally, these roles will involve mentoring younger teammates. Our operation falls into a Low Volume/High Mix category. Because of the nature of the product, market, and customer base, successful candidates will be very “hands-on”, self-motivated, and engaged with product development as well as production. As a result, these positions do not lend themselves to remote work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Lead new product development projects from product conception through production launch.

  • Provide hands-on mechanical engineering support and solutions to manufacturing and sales

  • Provide technical and engineering support for active sales orders, completing custom designs, technical calculations, BOM’s, and drawings

  • Lead or participate in key product and process improvement initiatives

  • Implement cost reduction and continuous improvement projects

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

•  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering - Required

•  Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment  

•  Engineering and technical support in truck manufacturing or body building industries  

•  Strong understanding of the product development process and the use of project management tools  

•  Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems involved with on-highway and industrial equipment  

•  Strong analytical, problem solving, and process improvement skills  

•  Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills  

•  Proven professional qualities including strong initiative, integrity, and the desire/ability to work in a team environment  

•  Creo 3D/Windchill modeling experience a Plus!

*  5-10 years of experience in heavy equipment manufacturing
