CLIENT OVERVIEW
Our Client is the largest manufacturer of their product in the United States and it was founded in 1895. Since the construction of a new facility in 1998 most of their production has been automated. They are now adding a new line of products to their already well established merchandise available via retail outlets.
POSITION SUMMARY
Our Client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Development Manager to lead growth initiatives for their plastic pot division in the United States. This role Prefers a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the plastic pot market, industry trends, big box retailers, and customer needs; HOWEVER, if the candidate Does Not Have Plastic Pot experience and DOES HAVE a history of selling to and experience with big box retail stores, the President will consider them. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and driving revenue growth through innovative sales and marketing strategies.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Market Strategy Development: Lead the development and execution of comprehensive business strategies to drive growth in the plastic pot market, focusing on landscaping, horticulture, retail, and wholesale segments.
Sales Growth: Identify, develop, and nurture new business opportunities, managing the entire sales process from lead generation to closing deals.
Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, including garden centers, nurseries, home improvement stores, and distributors, to enhance market presence.
Market Research & Analysis: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to provide actionable insights and inform product development and marketing strategies.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, marketing, and product development teams to ensure alignment between market demands and product offerings.
Revenue & Profitability Targets: Develop and manage sales forecasts, revenue goals, and budgets, ensuring profitability and business growth.
Networking & Industry Engagement: Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to represent the company and stay informed of emerging trends and technologies.
Contract Negotiations: Lead contract negotiations and partnerships, ensuring mutually beneficial terms for both the company and clients.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (Master’s preferred).
7 to 10 years of experience in business development or sales, specifically in the plastic pot manufacturing or horticultural product industry.
Proven track record of developing and executing successful growth strategies in the U.S. market.
Strong knowledge of the plastic pot industry (Ideal if you have that AND NOT Required), including product offerings, market dynamics, and customer expectations.
Must Have Business Development experience with the Big Box Retailers
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
Proficiency in sales forecasting and business analytics tools.
Travel of 40-50%--Air Travel and personal vehicle
COMPENSATION
Base Salary: $95-105K
